2009 Big South Conference Champions
Once again Winthrop took a
dramatic route to the Big South
Conference title game. They had
to win back-to-back penalty
shootouts.
Winthrop rallied to defeat
Gardner-Webb in the opening
round of the championship in
a shootout before knocking off
top-seeded Coastal Carolina
in a shootout in the semi-
finals. Freshman goalkeeper
Enrique Miranda came up
big with numerous saves in
during penalties.
